The Iowa Bonsai Association will have bonsai displays and demonstrations from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. April 20th and 21st at the Des Moines Botanical Garden – 909 Robert D Ray Dr., Des Moines, IA. The event will be held in the Walsh Room.
April 20th is a free admission day in recognition of Earth Day. Other family activities will take place from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
April 21st admission is free to Botanical Garden members otherwise regular admission rates apply.
Earth Day will be recognized on Saturday, April 20th with the Downtown Earth Day Tour, a joint celebration between the Botanical Garden, Science Center of Iowa and the World Food Prize. A variety of activities will take place at each location from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
In honor of the day, the Botanical Garden will offer free admission from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
From 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. children may plant a flower to take home and grow, learn about the parts of a flower, unique plant fragrances and the varied shape of leaves. There will be a plant petting area, lawn sized games of tic-tac-toe using recycled materials, lizard, turtles and other reptiles to learn about and more!
The Iowa Bonsai Association will have displays and demonstrations from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. in the Walsh Room.
