2014 Fall Show at Reiman Gardens

The theme of this year’s show was ‘bonsai forests’ and the subtheme will be kusamono. Bonsai, a horticulture art form developed in Japan, is now practiced world-wide. Iowa bonsai enthusiasts are active in multiple styles of bonsai including not only the stereotypical leaning pine tree but also temperate deciduous trees, group plantings (forests), tropical material, and trees growing on and in rocks instead of in pots.

2013 Fall Show at Reiman Gardens

Reiman Gardens hosted the Iowa Bonsai Association Show on October 5 and 6. We displayed multiple styles of bonsai including examples of leaning pine trees, tropical material, temperate deciduous trees, group plantings (forests), and trees growing on rocks instead of in pots. Shohin, miniature bonsai of less than ten inches in height, was highlighted at this years show.
